Current standards comply with the following two European directives:
°Directive 89-686 of 21 December 1989 on the requirements for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) related to working and market conditions, as well as the significant requirements for Personal Protective Equipment aimed at protecting workers’ health and safety.
°Directive 89-656 of 30 September 1989 concerns the application of PPE and the minimum requirements for their use in accordance with the European Standards.
These Directives categorize PPE as follows:
CE 1: category 1 – minimum risk.
CE 2: category 2 – special clothing for professions in which there are possible risks.
